This isn't exactly a Linux question, but it is about GNU Open Source Software. I've just started using the GIMP (always had it, never really used it until now). I've read a few tutorials, but can't follow the directions because my GIMP seems to be missing some things. The first missing item is Add (Alt-A), which apparently adds two layers. Others are Offset (Alt-O), Multiply (Alt-M), and Composite (I think). The keyboard shortcuts don't do anything, and I can't find them in the menus. I've looked in the Windows (latest non-GIMPshop) and Linux (inc. with Slackware 10.2) versions. Where are my missing menu options?
PS: Does anyone know of a good tutorial to learn the menus?
PPS: Could I make GIMPshop portable by moving its files into the appropriate Portable GIMP directory, or would it require some programming?
Hmm... Just noticed the box at the top saying it's a few years old. Found a newer tutorial in German, but it was readable after Google Translate. It seems Add and Multiply became layer modes, and for composite I had to use a layer mask. Still, Offset is a really useful feature; why would they take it out? Although you can use the arrows to nudge.
I don't know why I didn't think of that first.
