I have this program that I hardly ever use, moto4lin, to hook up my cellphone and download pictures off of it. For some reason, it is not connecting to the phone. I have retraced my steps as best as possible and have narrowed down the likely issue.
I am supposed to run "modprobe cdc-acm" before the program in order to make it work. I don't know enough about it to explain why. I do remember having to change the device setting within the program to /dev/ttyACM0, and I remember that device being in that directory.
Now, for some reason, that device is no longer there, nor does it magically appear after I run modprobe. Nevertheless, I am almost positive that this is the primary issue, as I have tried just about every other combination of commands in order to get it to work.
Can someone give me some insight into how to restore this device file?
OK, I figured out how to produce a ttyACM0, but there is still something keeping it from working.
I know its been long time since you wrote this but I have been struggling with this problem, can you please tell how you figured out to produce ttyACM0?
Possibly, you need to run modprobe as root, by placing sudo in front of it?
Yes I know, it doesn' t work otherwise. But that didn't help. I thought maybe you did something else. I' m trying to use it for controlling a pic c18f4550 by the way.
