Missing configure your computer.desktop file????

I just downloaded and installed the latest version of Mandrake Linux (9.2). I'm completley incompetent in the Linux enviorment (1st install) but everything appeared to go O.K. I tried installing software from the Welcome icon, actually the Mandrake Galaxy program (This Computer). I went down the list of software and selected the programs I wanted to install and pressed the install button, everthing appeared fine and I received an intall complete message. However, I have no idea where the software was installed to. No additional applications are found when clicking through the various menus (like the Windows Start Menu). Now when I click on This Computer, to manage software, I receive the following error:
"Unable to the command specified. The file or directory file:/usr/share/applnk-mdk/configure your computer.desktop does not exist."

I browsed and searched the different directories but did not come up with anything. Does anyone have any ideas.

TIA

R. Berman

Open up a terminal window and do
$ whereis name_of_application

This will tell you exactly where it's installed.
You can also launch the application from a terminal window, doing this will give you feedback in case some error prevents the program from running.
You can also do Alt+F2, this will give you a "run command" box in which you can specify the application you want to run.

Hope this helps you out, and sorry but for the missing computer.desktop file I don't have a clue.
You could always do a Google search on the exact error message, very often you will be able to find a solution to your problem this way.
