Smile Mint 18.2

I am using Linux Mint 18.2, but because I have an HP MFP 477 fdn on the system, I can't get the driver for the HP Laserjet 1018 to work. I have tried several drivers, the one recommended is the foo2zjs or something like that, I don't remember the whole driver name or number, but the result is the 477 stops working, then I have no printer.
I was forced to delete the 1018 printer and load the 477 driver which works fine.
It seems to me there is a conflict with these two printers with similar drivers, and there is no solution that I have found.
If someone has a similar problem knows of a work around so that both printers will work, please let me know.

I've found questions regarding HP open-source driver get great attention in their forums, you also can open tickets there and have issues fixed real quick. This is my past experience with hplip support forums.
