Mint 17 running virtualbox but no usb

Hi,
I am a newbie and not a programmer so bear with me. I have dual boot Windows 8 and Linux Mint 17 (I don't know if that is important info)

I installed the virtualbox from the Mint software manager and it didn't recognize the host USB and said I needed an expansion pack. I went to the virtualbox website and downloaded the expansion pack and then when I went to open windows 7 in virtual box, I got this error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine newest.

The device helper structure version has changed.

If you have upgraded VirtualBox recently, please make sure you have terminated all VMs and upgraded any extension packs. If this error persists, try re-installing VirtualBox. (VERR_PDM_DEVHLPR3_VERSION_MISMATCH).

Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: ConsoleWrap
Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}

What do I do?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the software manager. That did nothing.
I also tried unistalling from the software manager and installing from the virtualbox website but they did not have a mint specific one so I tried "trusty" but that didn't install.

Thumbs up solved! thanks

someone on another message board posted this link:

http://download.virtualbox.org/virtualbox

It has more versions than on the main site or maybe I didn't know where to look. The version used in the mint software manager was not listed and I couldn't get mint to download one off the site. Using the index above I was able to get the correct extension pack.

Thanks Beachboy2 for taking the time to message me and your message pushed me in the right direction!

Also if anyone else has this problem don't forget to go in and create filters in the usb settings for your ipods and whatnot.
