Exclamation Midnight Commander graphics under WinXP SSH

Hello!

I've got a problem with the graphics of Midnight Commander under PuTTY [SSH client for Ms Windows].
The problem is best illustrated in the picture found [ HERE ]

The problem is with the borders of the text-based windows of MC. Instead of lines... corners etc... those strange characters appera.

If anyone knows the solution to this problem, please help me.

Thanks!

PS: Remote Server OS = Fedora Core 6; Client OS = WinXP SP2

Not that it helps much, but I've got the same problem with both FC5 and Redhat 9 via Putty from XP. I think it has to do with the curses library or the text rendering. Not sure if there is a workaround or not.

I know exactly the problem. It is the translation.

Under Settings / Windows / Translation

select from the character set combo box UTF-8

I wanted to include screenshot but alas I'm a new user and I can't

In order to store the setting first "load" your server data, make the change then go back to where the server info is and click "save".
This will make sure it's the right translation everytime.

Hope that helps... reputation would be appreciated.
