MIDI to mp3/ogg converters?

I've searched both here and Google for software that'll allow me to convert MIDI to ogg or mp3, preferably ogg, but lo and behold, they all seem to be for Windows, go figure.

Audacity doesn't seem to do it.

Anyone know of any?

Have you tried the timidity (command line) midi player? It will generate all sorts of uncompressed sound formats from midi. Then you can use one of the standard encoders like lame to convert to mp3 or ogg.

MIDI to mp3/ogg converters

i realize this is an ancient thread, but I just wanted to pass on some knowledge.... It is possible to convert MIDI to mp3, ogg, or wav, or just about any other format these days through the use of VLC and the right plugin, and there is a FluidSynth plugin for VLC that makes what you wanted to do easy, complete with a gui!

Timidity can direct the output from playing a midi direct to Ogg.

man timidity for details.

//

Use the -Ow option to export to Wav, or -Ov for Ogg Vorbis or -OF for FLAC.
