Middle clicking in firefox... huh?

Why does middle clicking in firefox take me to some random page in my history or sometimes goes through the google "I'm feeling lucky system" and winds up on some random page I don't want. I just want middle clicking to use the smooth scroll thing but it's getting annoying how when I stop the middle click off the little circle it warps me to some random page on the internet.

Also, is there anyway to change how the address box functions. I want it to do nothing when I click on it, not highlight tho whole URL (that's IEish).

Thanks

I believe middle clicking pastes whatever is in the clipboard, so when you do it on the page it goes to the link if there is one.

that's a Firefox question, not a linux question generally speaking. you might ask around at mozdev.org or mozilla.org for the answer to your question. or, you might try and RTFM.
you might get that answer too, asking people. lol :)

I think it has somethign to do with your wheel button being set as the back button. try changing that setting and see if that helps.
