Microphone port recording software?

I am using Mint 18.1 and want to know which software will record from my microphone port? If you can tell me I would appreciate it.

I use Audacity. It's probably the most popular choice in Linux, but there are many, many others.

There are some excellent Audacity tutorials on YouTube (as well as some--er--not quite so excellent). Also, Hackerpublicradio.org has a good intro.

There are so many Linux sound recording programs that one hit me in the face while I was replying to your post.
