Messenger Problems

I Have a Conexant Internal Modem at home and for quite some time i was not able to connect to Internet thru Linux..
Recently i downloaded the Modem driver for Linux from the parent Website...
And there I was....successful in Connecting to the Net..but the problem arised when I tried connecting to the Y! messenger..

It just could not connect to the messenger...I even tried thru GAIM...but in vain....can anybody tell me what could be the problem...

I have a Intel P4 at home..and am using RHL9 .0 (2.4.20)..

Am waiting for the c l u e....

u can download amsn from sourceforge.net, it works fine once u have configured it its like a msn messenger clone :P

Thanks Friend for the reply...but then can I use Y! account to access the chat room..I dont have a MSN account
