Ok so I was trying to edit my KDE menus so everything would show up in IceWm.

I have a Kanotix Debian Sid install, so there are kde menus then the Debian menus.

I was using Menuedit, and moving most thing over to the Debian apps menu. Somewhere along the way I lost several of the directories namely Office and Development.



At one point I was attempting to edit the menus in IceWM, lost the KDE and Gnome menus.


Are the settings stored somewhere so I can reset the menus?

If not it is no big deal, obviously all of the apps are still installed, it is just a matter of adding menu entries again.

BTW xfm is a cool little app.

Ok I found the IceWM menus, they are simple text files in my home .

KDE uses some wierd file type and it doesn't look like they get backed up when you make changes. IceWM files autobackup when changes are made.

So it looks like I am stuck manually adding the apps back to my menus.

or copy the ones from the live cd?

If you were doing this from your home directory, just delete .local and .config/menus and your KDE menu should be restored to its original state when you log out and back in again into KDE.

I did manage to find the default files for IceWM, luckily they are text files so I have everything just they way I like. KDE used way to much ram, and I could care less how the background or whatever looks. I just want it to be fast.
