Post Message Construction

I am into Telecom/Datcom field and currently planned to switch over to software development field as a result I am learning linux internals.

I would like to know how the message frame /packet is constructed by Kernel?

CRC ,TOs,Source address ,Destination Address how are they produced and how message is constructed in sequence ?

How Device drivers interact with Kernel ?Can anyone suggest a document ?
