mencoder join file

hi

i try to join video

mencoder danse.mov khemisset.mov -o final.mov -ovc copy -oac pcm copy

i get:

videocodec: framecopy (480x640 24bpp fourcc=34504d46)
videocodec: framecopy (640x480 24bpp fourcc=6765706a)

All video files must have identical fps, resolution, and codec for -ovc copy.

is there a way to resolve that?

thanks

You would have to transcode one or both of the files. mencoder can probably do it on the fly, but since one video seems tall and narrow 480x640 and one is standard VGA resolution 640x480, I'm not sure what your end product would end up looking like.

You also most likely require a -vf scale filter so the output was all one size. if the fps are different I'd strongly suggest transcoding them separately and then joining the as I can see trying to do that on the fly getting into all kinds of audio sync problems.

You might want to check out "avidemux" ( http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ ) It is a wonderful program that makes working with video a lot easier.

Hope this helps

Same Problem..help appreciated!

Hi, I'm just new to this forum and I noticed the question above about mencoder. I have the same issue, I need to use mencoder to concatenate two or more quicktime .mov files together. They are movie files which are exported from Swift 3D and so their dimensions are all 400 by 300. I tried using the following code:

/mencoder -oac copy -ovc copy movie1.mov movie2.mov -o outputMovie.mov

But when I try to open outputMovie.mov using quicktime player (version 7.6) I keep getting the message: "The move could not be opened, the file is not a movie file".

I'm really at a loss for what to do. I've tried changing the codec of the outputMovie.mov. I've tried outputting as an .avi file. None play in quicktime player. I've never used a video encoder before so I'm not sure what I need to do to solve this issue.

(note: I would manually concatenate the movies in a movie editor except for the fact that I need to be able to do it in real time and through php and mencoder was advised to be a good option)

Any help or advice greatly appreciated!

Fiona
