Question memory violations crash Xlib pgms

Hi, all;

I'm an oldbie in _nix, a newbie with Mac OSX.
I'm running the gnu compilers and Mac X11 along
with OpenMotif, and most of my graphics programs
that were stable and bulletproof under Solaris
frequently crash under MacOSX. I have "fixed" some by
taking extra care in allocating memory for character
pointers, etc., but it all seems kinda arbitrary.
Does anyone have any general tips?

Thanks, S_P
