memory full

Hi,
I am running on FC3. When I type df command, it says 76% full. But i have not saved that much data. Is there any way I can get back my unused memory?

The df command shows the amount of free disk space you have on each mount, not the amount of free memory. But I guess that's what you mean.

It's impossible to say how to free up disk space, we can't see what you saved or what program might be eating up your free space due to a wrong setting since there just isn't enough info.

Output of df please and a little more clarification of if your actually wanting to free up memory or actual disk space. If your memory is actually full, that's normal, try searching, this question is asked all the time.

First, the command df displays disk file ( hard drive ) usage, not ram (memory) usage. The amount of disk usage will depend on how you have your system partitioned. If you have one large partition only, the system will use part of the space for memory swap space. If you have been web surfing, and not cleared cache, you can burn space fast enough. When you first installed, how much free space did you have?

How is your system partitioned? If you post it, possibly we can help more.
