Media streaming between WMP and Linux media players (preferably Amarok)
I recently put Linux back on my laptop (Vector) and I am trying to get any of the media players on it to recognize and play the music on my desktop, which is running Windows 7 Ultimate with WMP streaming music over my wireless network. I was wondering if this can be done, or if these features have yet, if ever, to be implemented

It once worked with iTunes, I don't know if it work with WMP. If it still use mms+asx (or something like that) streams, it can probably be played if you get the right url

If you are streaming in Windows media formats (wma, wmv), try VLC. For Real Media formats, you will need Real Player for Linux (it's based on Helix and it doesn't try to phone home to Seattle like the Windows version) or a conversion program.

Microsoft keeps messing with Windows Media codecs to try to keep them proprietary. Real Player has always used proprietary codecs.

Any other common format (*.avi, *.mpg, etc.) should work okay with any standard Linux.
