Hi,
I had red hat 4.0 se installed on celeron pc with 512mb ram. I had installed rpm package of Mplayer on this pc.It was working fine ,then I wanted to uninstall same for some resone so I tried with rpm -e command for same , it was not uninstalled.
so i removed all the concern files of same and then check with rpm -qa|grep mplayer. still it was there so i updated rpm database and then checked same problem persist. then tried to install it says already install package.
what should i do to start same package on again?
i want to install same from tarball package but it had also given me error i.e error 2. what is it ?
how i can go further, pl help?

Need more info.
What was the exact command to remove the rpm did you use?
What errors did you get?

On installing the source what was your exact procedure from the start?
List the mplayer version as well?
List the last 15 or so lines of the install?
