Current Setup:
Gentoo Linux fresh install
2 x 1.5 TB hard drive for recoverable data
3 x 500 GB hard drive for raid 5 non-recoverable data (family pics, family movies, etc)
1 x 73GB 10K for OS
Background (no me being an idiot)
So I have had the md software raid for several years across several distros of Linux. I always just install mdadm on the given distro and it finds the raids and allows me to use it.
This time, I tell it to find the raid and it cannot. Now I realize the hard drives have shifted letters.
After search around for the various errors I am getting, no super block, no recognizable superblock, etc. I find a website that seems to have the same problem as mine. I think it was
http://kevin.deldycke.com/2007/03/ho...d-superblocks/ . I rebuild my raid.
Now for some reason I was expect to see my raid alive with my data. (Hindsight vision is always 20/20). That did not happen.
Since then I have not touch the RAID. It has rebuilt itself but no File System has been placed on not.
Goal: To get all my data and the raid alive or to just get the data off and up it on another hard drive until I can re-create the raid.
Any ideas?
