mdadm issue

Hi, all

I have two questions about mdadm and fdisk.

1> I have RHEL4 with the following kernel version.

Linux test 2.6.9-55.ELsmp #1 SMP Fri Apr 20 17:03:35 EDT 2007 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

2> I run fdisk /dev/sda which is the first SATA disk on my PC with OS installed on /dev/sda1. I added /dev/sda3 of linux raid partition and
save the new partition table. But fdisk told me that the new table will
be used at the next boot. After rebooting OS, the new table is loaded in.
I am linux newbie and under my understanding solaris can change the disk partition without rebooting OS. And I do not find the command which can
copy my first disk partion table to my second disk for creating raid voleme
more easily. I wonder whether there is a command can copy disk partion table to another disk and how to change partition table online if having.

3> I tried to use "-a yes" option to creat raid1 volume /dev/md3 but I got the error of "You have listed more devices (3) than are in the array(2)!"I do not know what it means. Without "-a yes" option, I can create /dev/md3 without any problem. What is the differences between these two command option?

# mdadm -Cv /dev/md3 -a yes -l1 -n2 /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3
mdadm: You have listed more devices (3) than are in the array(2)!
# mdadm -Cv /dev/md3 -l1 -n2 /dev/sda3 /dev/sdb3
mdadm: size set to 292977280K
mdadm: array /dev/md3 started.

# more /proc/mdstat
Personalities : [raid1]
md3 : active raid1 sdb3[1] sda3[0]
292977280 blocks [2/2] [UU]
[===>.................] resync = 17.4% (51239616/292977280) finish=63.6mi
n speed=63308K/sec
unused devices: <none>
