Maximised windows
Is there anyway i can force a program to open so that it's maximised on the desktop. I use firefox but how ever i go about running firefox i always have to maximise the window after opening it to get it to fill the screen. This just gets annoying and i'm sure there must be a way of telling firefox to open in a maximised state straight away.
Any idea?

I think this behavior is window manager dependent. Using KDE, if I open firefox, maximaze it, and quite it in maximized state, when I start firefox again it "remembers" it was maximized and starts in this state.

OK. May be you have a special setting in some hidden place...
Click with the right button on the title bar of firefox, Advanced/Special Windows Setting, in the geometry tab, I have all unchecked. May be you want to try Size, Maximized Horizontally/vertically. All have a setting Remember. Give it a try.
cheers,
