Smile Math Input Panel

I was wondering if there was something similar to Math Input Panel (on Win7) that I could use? I have to write various papers that involve math derivations, and with the panel I can just write them with my mouse (man this tool is amazing!) and hit insert to paste it into Word. I am still attempting to migrate from win7 to slackware, but I need to make sure I've got little things that I have to use everyday settled.

Thanks!

Um, so your question relates to word processors? If so, it may help to put that in the title.

Another approach, if you are are using a lot formulas is to ditch the word processors completely and use latex.

When you on this the first day in april input this sentence :
....... math input panel .........
into the Tux Linux Search tool http://www.google.com/linux

.. You will get suggestions for e.g. LyX , to be used for
substituting the windows math input tool.
http://hardware.slashdot.org/story/0...ickly-In-Class
etc. etc.

Asking http://www.google.com/linux for .. lyx example ..
http://linuxdevcenter.com/pub/a/linu...ux.html?page=2
etc. etc.

grep -i lyx All-Slackware-versions/*
.. The reply is a lyx package at http://www.slacky.eu/
( LyX may require some fonts : "fonts-ttf-latex" ).

Please have a look in /usr/share/lyx/examples/

The type setting program Tetex ( LaTex ? ) is on install disk 2,
slackware/t/****

OpenOffice Math may be usable too.

Thanks for your response. Do either of the programs you linked allow me to write with my mouse (similar to a tablet pen/pencil?)? I am not sure if you have used Math Input Table on Win7, which allows me to draw the symbols.

Thanks.
