mapping the keyboard scroll whell to emulate + & - keys

Hi,
I've been using the excellent qcad 2d drafting package for a short while and although this software really is excellent, there are somethings which are hard to do. In order to zoom in and out on the screen, you need to press the plus or minus keys. This doesn't seem really intuitive to me, so i'd like to use the scroll wheel which is on the left side of my logitic internet keyboard. If I can map the wheel to forwards for plus and backwards for minus, then I could really get around the screen quickly. Also, anbody using the gimp would also benefit from a solution as it also uses the plus and minus keys for zooming in and out. Any help would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Mick.

I wrote the following article years ago:

It might help you... Don't forget to read the part about XFree4.3, which should hopefully apply to XFree4.4 and X.Org.

Yves.
