many crossover applications users ?
Dear all, please read this conversation in previuos topic
My Question: Code:
Hi all, I tried to install crossover 5 on etch debian, but no menu appeared in the applications, and also no windows sub menu that holds the installed applications Code:
First, try restarting xorg. I installed on Debian Etch and menus weren't there until restarting. Code:
/usr/local/crsovr/bin/wine --bottle=autocad2000 .cxoffice/autocad2000/drive_c/Program\ Files/ACAD2000/acad.exe thanks |
See what the permissions are on /usr/local/crsovr/bin/wine by running:
$ ls -l /usr/local/crsovr/bin/wine It might just be a permission problem. |
no its not a permission problem I forgot to tell you that I changed it to 777, and wine replyes that there is no bottle names "autocad2000".

whats up men !!

In the user where it works check and see if there is a .cxoffice directory in the user's home directory. Note, this will be a hidden directory if it exists. I suspect there will be and I also suspect that is where you will find the directory for the autocad2000 bottle. The bottle subdirectory in .cxoffice is where the programs installed in that bottle exist AFAIK. One thing you could try is copying the entire .cxoffice directory from that users home directory to other users' home directories.

it exists, but I have many users around 30 users should I copy that directory !!
after copying that directory it worked, but its not a solution |
It may not be what you like but it is a solution. If you can't figure out how to automate the copying of that directory to your thirty users post back but it shouldn't be that hard.
I don't believe it is possible to have a centralized install directory from which all users can launch the application. You could try copying the .cxoffice directory to a neutral location, give all users rwx to that directory and create a link to that directory in each users home directory. It might create some problems and I don't see any great advantage in doing so vs. just copying the directory other than saving a little space on your hard drive. |
Thank you so much. I wrote a simple script and for copying .cxoffice to $HOME for each already exist user and for any added user.
As you said, this is better than copying to netural loaction, this causes a problems when many users use the same application at the same moment using terminals. thank you again |
