I did fsck on my disk to see if there were erros and tha twas the reason why but after it was all done I am still getting these errors...

Bruce if you can help me out w/ that it would be good.... with help from MasterC i changed a cfg and for the time being I got rid of the boot up and down problem by not usign a graphical interface and logging in and then typing 'startx' to load up my desktop....

Now going through the boot up.... i also get that lmd_validate_partition_table() Disk Read Failed error when it says Starting xinetd ........... any help of any sort would be greatly appreciated..... thanks

Well I ran through the boot/lilo configurator in the boot section of the Mandrake Control Center, it eventually asked me which log in screen I wanted to to use. I chose the KDE login screen ratrher then the default galaxy screen.

Isnt it in System -> Display Managers?

I apologize for pointing you in the wrong direction Nefarious. It is in the Mandrake Control Center, Hardware, Display Manager Chooser. Choose KDM.

I also changed it in the KDE Control Center, login manager, appearence from the galaxy theme to keramik.

Again I am sorry for pointing yopu in the wrong direction.
