MandrivaLinux 2006 - Internet (cable) isn't always connected

Hi, it's me again. As you may soon find out, I'm pretty new to linux, especially to mandriva. I have Mandrake, but I guess I had better luck with that.
Anyway, to the problem.
I have cable modem, and whenever I was on Windows XP, or MandrakeLinux, SuseLinux, I was connected all the time, from the start of getting into my desktop, to the end.
However, Mandriva is different.
I'd get on, and it says I'm disconnected.
I click on connect, wait for it (saying connecting......"
Then it fails.
There are times I don't even monkey with it, or may a little, and it just magically connects. And other times, it just doesn't.
