Mandriva 2008, Skype and libQtDBus.so.4

I'm trying to install Skype-1.4.0.118-mdv.i586.rpm, but I get told that I need libQtDBus.so.4. I went to the rpm.pbone.net and searched for an rpm with the mentioned file. I find libqtdbus4-4.3.3-1mdv2008.0.i586.rpm (I can't find it on my Mandriva 2008 Software management).

When I try to install it, I get told that I need qt4-qtdbus[== 2:4.3.3]. I can't find that on my M2008 either, so again I go to pbone, where I find this: qt4-qtdbus-4.3.3-1mdv2008.0.i586.rpm.

When I try to install it, I get told that I need libQtDBus.so.4, which I was in the process of trying to install in the first place!! It seems like a vicious circle to me. How can I satisfy this dependency? I've already installed qt4-common (found on my M2008)..

I found it in mine. Look again, put libQtDBus.so.4 in the search box and select the option to Find: in file names. If it still doesn't show up then you need to set your sources. Use one of the links in my sig.

I set the sources as advised on easyurpmi, now it's working! Thanks!

I didn't really know about urpmi earlier, but now I think it's all I'm going to use :) Thanks again!! :) :)

That's the preferred way to install apps in Mandriva. Only when the package you want is not listed in the package manager, should you attempt to install from another source.

Try to make sure the .rpm has been packaged for Mandriva (i.e. it has mdv in the package name), that way you'll avoid breaking your system.
