Mandrake - Size of HD

I have one question regarding Mandrake 8.1

I was wondering what would be the ideal size of a hard drive to install it. I currently have a 4.3GB hard drive, which I plan to use as a slave. I dont have to install all the bells and whistles, just interfaces (kde/gnome), compilers, editors etc...

How much will that installation need?

The bells and whistles are small, it's KDE/Gnome that are gonna kill ya.

I'd say a safe size would be 3 or 4 GB. You don't want to try to squeeze by with only 1 or 2 GB and then have a station with no usable space.

Your 4.3 will be fine. I run Mandrake 8.2 on my laptop with a 2.1GB drive.
