What does the error message "execve failed for etc/x11/x (error no2) in Mandrake Linux 8.0?

trickykid 06-18-2001 03:33 PM

when does the error occur? like when you are trying to start x or whatever?

let us know some more details!

Romegan48 06-18-2001 08:50 PM

Exactly so. It happens when I try startx. I can use the command line but not any windowing stuff.

Same thing

I have the same error. I am now in windows so trying to remember how I got more info. Log in as root. You need to check the boot errors. I have several. Shoot How about I come back in linux later today. I will post it as even though I not knowledgeable enough to tell you how to do it yet I know where I found it. Hang in there. I will post it for both of us. It installed this way right? And it still runs. It does eventually show it's ugly face. Mine just did.

This is too long!

perl warning: setting locale failed warning Please check that locale is set: blah blah This one sounds like the main problem?? Warning:imwheel is not checking/writing apid file, Be careful! I have no clue. My language locale is set to us english as that sounded like my best choice.

Try running Xconfigurator, see if that will generate a new XFree86 config file and allow you get in then. That error message sound like wheel mouse problems.

Didn't know a mouse problem was so complex

Hi You are right that error is a mouse problem. Geeze I had no clue. Ok but look at this and just tell me if a mouse problem is simple. Wow ! http://www-sop.inria.fr/koala/colas/mouse-wheel-scroll/
