Mandrake install kernel version mismatch
Hi, I've got a new system with an Abit KR7A-133R mobo. The KR7A is claimed to be supported in Mandrake 8.2 with kernel 2.4.18-6mdk.
Unfortunately, when I boot off of CD or install floppy, the kernel that's loaded is 2.4.18-5mdk (before the install really gets underway). The system immediately panics claiming that the southbridge is not supported (this is a VIA Apollo KT266a chipset). Sooo... given that I'm not currently running Linux on either of my systems, how do I arrange to get a more recent kernel (presumably with support for my chipset!) Thanks!!! Ross |
