I installed Mandrake and left for a few hours. I left just after I put in the second disk. When I get back it tried to reboot and just after it detects the floppy it says "LI". Then it hangs. That's it. Any ideas on what is wrong?
doesn't sound like a bios sequence problem.... did you create a rescue disk.. if you did, try booting using it.. get into your system and post your lilo.conf file here, most likely its just not finding the boot image in lilo to boot linux correctly.
I just reinstalled and it was fine. I guess it was because I didn't sit with the install and it never completed. So far, Mandrake is pretty cool. I kind of like RH better so far. I'll give it a few weeks.
cool.. yeah usually a LI at the lilo prompt means its not finding the boot info or image to boot linux.. usually its just a simple edit in your lilo.conf file..
glad its working for you now..
oh, if you encounter li again.. you can check out this thread, it actually looks like its more than just a simple fix.. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=11454 but some good info given by persons replies there.
