Hi,
I was updating mandrake(dual boot with w2k) using RPMDrake. Everything was looking fine, untill i rebooted.
When I reboot, everything loks fine. All the services starts off smoothly.
But, at the end, I am left with the login prompt (text mode).
I tried to stat off the x server using xinit. Then, I get the blank screen (as when it boots normally) and the mouse also appears. But within a few seconds, it goes back to the prompt.
An error message stating that
xvt : invalid option "-n". Try using --help for more options.
I am a newbie and since i can atleast get into linux command prompt, I can back up the data.
Now, when I try to reinstall mandrake from the CD, the LILO configuration gives me 4 options
Linux
failsafe
windows
floppy
For now, I am not left with a floppy (been a while since i touched those). So, is there any way to make a CD bootable? I was thinking of resetting the mbr using bootmagic in windows.
Thanks in advance for your replies.
rgd,
Shyam
