Installed Mandrake 9.1 on my labtop successfully. When I try to boot I get the cursor blinking in the upper left hand corner and nothing else. Any suggestions?

do you mean you cant boot at all or it boots and the prompt says login? If so type your name and password to log into the sytem and then type startx. If you have a problem getting into a GUI, get as much info from the error report on screen and post it.
maybe a bootloader problem? do you see the kernel being loaded? if not, you can try booting with the mandrake cd and using the resue option (F1 - rescue - repair bootloader)
