mandrake 9.0 will not detect HD

When i try to install mandrake 9 it gets to the hard drive detection part and it dosen't do any thing past that I have left it there for 3 hours and nothing happened but when i moved the mouse the cusor moved so it wasen's jamed up has this happened to any body else?

Check the drive jumpers, make sure they are not set to cable select.

I was running red hat and it works
i haven't changed a thing why would this happen
