Hi All,
I've been using MDK8.2 and decided to upgrade my desktop amd laptop but I've hit a snag with Java.
I've installed jdk1.3.0_02 and Forte as per the instructions and changed the path settings to export the JAVA_PATH variable and PATH variable to point at the dirs I installed the jdk to.
From a command line I can type javac and get the error msg that I need a file of type MyCode.java to execute properly etc. but if I try to do that the computer just hangs.
Same for Forte - the first time it ran it created the user dirs in my home dir but then it just hung. - it's as though Java can't execute.
Before I installed either of these I did remove jikes and kaffe so that ther was no other Java VM on the system.
I split my HD into two partitions and put MDK8.2 back on and reinstalled both the jdk and Forte to see if I was doing things right and they both worked first time.
So, any ideas what's going on here friends?
