Question Mandrake 8.1 CDROM and SCSI

w/mandrake

Trying to install mandrake from a CD that I burned from what I downloaded, and it's not corrupt. I have a Pioneer DVD-Rom. At one point the install decides that I don't have the cd and asks which drive (i also have another cd drive, hp cdr) the cd could be in. I chose the DVD drive (hdc) and then it asks me which driver I should use for scsi and then lists all kinds of drivers. After that it asks me what command to pass through the kernel. No matter what I try I can't get passed that step in the installation process, please help!

Oh, btw, after choosing some drivers and trying some commands I either am returned to the original prompt or get the message "Insmod Failed"

I think you are choosing SCSI option when you are prompted during the installation. Try choosing no when you are prompted "Do you have a SCSI drive" an d proceed. Linux treats
DVDROM as a SCSI drive. But u dont have to worry about it. It must have already seen that you have a DVDROM.

It would be easy, if you can tell how far have gone with your installation after you inserted your CD. Normally different steps would be listed on the left side when you are using mandrake installation.
