Mandrake 8.0 download and CD burning
I'm trying to download Mandrake 8.0 on to the hard drive of a computer running Win 2000 and want to burn it on CD, so that I can load linux on to a different computer.
The downloads are a lot bigger than what a CD can hold. The RPMS alone takes upto 1.4GB while a CD can hold upto 700MB. So can anyone tell me how to distribute the files between 2-3 CDs, so that I can install the whole operating system without problems. What are the essential files that need to be available inorder to install linux correctly?? Thanks in advance |
the easiest way to do this is to download the iso images to create the different cd's.
www.linuxiso.org is where you can get these. |
Thanks
Thanks for answering my question. I always wondered what those iso stuff was. Now I get it. It is used for burning it on CDs.
Thanks for your help. |
FYI: Just to give you a heads up, make sure when burning the ISO image... when burning from the hard drive, make sure your specifying that it is a iso image, or its not gonna burn right, then you waste a CDR. Depending on what your using to burn within windows, there should be an option or selection to set that up to burn properly.
