mandrake 10.1 limited edition 2005 ati driver
Hello
Im am running on mandrake linux limited edition 2005 and with the default installation the ati kernel module wont load up in boot process it is version 8.10.19 (it returns with the error code 5), so i went onto ati website and d/loaded 8.14.13 in its new package 'ati-driver-installer-8.14.13.run' and i followed the instructions by typing ./ati-driver-installer-8.14.13.run. But it refuses to run from console and returns with Permission Denied i have also tried the same while being logged in as root. Is this a simple issue that can be resolved Or should i ditch the mandrake and get redhat/suse instead? As ati has tested this driver with those distributions. Oh My GFX card is a Connect3D 9800XT. If you need anymore info let me know. Thank you |
Am i Talking dumb, Were have i gone wrong?

hi,
i am using Red Hat on my Desktop (AMD 64 3000+ ) and on Notebook running on suse 9.3 x86_64 Pro (AMD 64 3200+ ) and both are unable to install ATI Driver. and after reading hundered & hundered threads about this problem over one week 8-10 hours a days. I started feeing like mentally sick myself. because NOT a single thread on this forum worked for me. I am just fed up of all , ATI , Linux, Forum ,Thread. I like to give a piece of suggestion. Don't go deep, just give up Linux or buy nVIDIA Graphics Card. It makes no sense to switch over to SuSE or Fedora C4 from Mandrake Before i read your this thread i was also thinking to turn to Mandrake from SuSe and Fedora C4 . BUY nVIDIA. or Give up LINUX Reagrds. |
