mandrake 10.2 Failure to boot on IC7-G

Hi

I've got a strange problem that I’ve never come across before whilst installing any distro before.

The mandrake 10.2 installer worked fine with no problems heck even found drivers for the POS TV card I have. But on reboot the system lock on all default modes after “activating swap partitions [OK]” the system locks up and no k/b works.

I’ve given it a full hour to see if it was any issue that may take some time but it doesn’t seem to be. I’ve tried alt0 and alt1 which are 2.6.11.6 favours and alt2 doesn’t work…:S

Anyone knows of the reasons as to why this is happening. Or would like to take a shot please do.

Thank you

System specs:

Motherboard: IC7-G
CPU: P4 2.8 @ 3.2
RAM: 1gb 4x corsair 3200
Video: ti4600
DVD: Pioneer 107

Controllers: Sil 3112A
Intel ICH5R

Hard drives:
3x SATA 120gb
1x SATA 160gb
2x SATA 250gb
1x IDE 120gb
1x IDE 160gb

PS. If you read the ‘hi’ before I edited the post I am keyboard dyslexic. :P

hi

i had the same probleme with mandriva 2005 LE and the problem "whith me" was the twinhan card which makes this and this probleme can be sen elswhere

what i did the first time was to unplug teh pci dvb card and boot under mandriva and then download the latest kernel "now its 2.6.12" and recompile it so it can boot normally"

and the second time i didnt wanna open the computer case so i used a live cd "gentoo" then i mounted the linux partition and went into /lib/modules/"kernel version"/kernel/media and then i erased almost all modules related to my dvb card so linux cant configure it while booting and it workd without rebooting the system but you still need to recompile a new kernel to make it work "actully it not working with me as i cant find the /dev/video file"

you probably already solved your probleme but just in case you need this

take care
