Mandrake 10.1 pp quirks

Mandrake 10.1 powerpack,
athlon 1800xp,
asus a7n8x mobo.
Nvidia 5600XT,
760+ ram

Here are a few Mandrake quirks that are annoying as I can't seem to cure them. And a few solutions to some.
Cures-
Ok, the mandrake DNS changing error, I suffered from this bad but I found that by enabling acpi and lapic it suddenly worked fine (Although I had to disable these to install the os, odd but there you go).

There are a lot of posts about easy urpmi, please listen as they are right, it rules.
(search "easy urpmi" on google).

Azureus for Bittorrent is great, I swear by it.

Problems-
I disabled the autoupdater and now I can't find how to get it back (whoops, any advice?).

Xine and all other media players are playing in a very washed out color thats basically black and white with a slight tint. In Xine there's no hue bar but contrast, brightness are still there. I haven't made any system change other than removing totem, which I then reinstalled after this problem showed up. (actually i did remove samba and lisa.)

I removed lisa because for some reason it was using 80%+ of system resources once I started it for the first time. I was having problems with the Nvidia install (it installed fine but i only got 5 frames a second with glxgears) and I finally found out it was lisa eating my cpu, now its fine.

I do get the "nvidia.ko" module not found when trying to install the latest drivers and sadly I haven't found a cure although I agree that it probably is something to do with the kernel source.

I've tried Suse(where are all me apps??), Debian(aaargh the install), Slackware(wow but eek), Knoppix(can't live without my knoppix tolbox) and Mandrake(quirky but cool) I love the most. Linux isn't easy but its well worth it.

I have set up a Mandrake network at work (no more windoze for us) and once its setup, its stable and easy as.

Cheers all, hope you can help and that I helped.
