Managing saved html files in easily queryable fashion?

Now and then one encounters interesting code samples, how-to's, ... which are subsequently saved to disk. In the course of time, these files are cluttered in huge directories in the file system.

Does software exist which indexes those files, presents them in a well-organized way and (perhaps) makes querying possible?

How do you call such systems anyway?

Any help appreciated.

What would you like to query? the filenames? You mean like a search through files, containing a word? or a search through files content, containing a word?

In the simplest case, for each set of files (I mean an html file with its resources, but let's call all this a data entity), some keywords could be added on which querying could be done.

Better still would be the ability to search through the contents of a data entity, like Google does, but here on a collection of data entities. This approach would be more automatic (no manual addition of keywords necessary).
