Question Making the gnome menu button nice

In the Linux Magazine issue #52, I witnessed some screenshots of Gnome that had a very impressive menu button. It looked vaguely like the XP start button, but it was the color of a distribution (red in debian, purple in Gentoo...) and it showed the name of the distribution. Does anybody know how to do this? It would make Gnome look aesthetically perfect for me.

Thanks for your help!

if you have a scan of the picture or a link to it it would help us who dont have the magazine, so i cant tell you what it was. however, have you checked out before? lots of nice looking goods there.
