making java work at the prompt

K, first off, brand new to Linux. Just got Mandy 9.0 installed last night, no hitches, good things.

Anyways, I dl the java jre and jsdk today, and don't know where to go from here. I've 'installed' things i think. executed the .bin file and just did default paths. I know I have to do something with the CLASSPATH, but what?

Any insight would be wonderful.
