making gaim 0.71 recognize gtk+2.2.0

Hi,

I recently finished compiling and installing gtk+ 2.2.0. now i'm trying to install gaim 0.71 but after I run configure, i get a message saying that gtk+ was not found on the system. I already ran ldconfig as root after installing gtk+ and testing it out. i'm pretty sure it works, gaim just can't find it.

another thing, in general, (I'm using Mandrake 9.2) how would you run configure so that the makefiles will have the correct top_builddir variable?

when i was installing the dependencies for gtk, i often had to edit the makefile myself. configure would cause the paths to certain files to be incorrect , ie: ${top_builddir}//usr/local/

it's impossible to get to usr local if the top build dir is . in a directory in /usr/local.

thanks

gaim .71 is no longer the current version, they have released .74

Also, im not sure how up to date it is, but im pretty sure there is a rpm for gaim on the mandrake disks, which may make your life a little easier. Assuming its up to date enough to work with all the protocols you use of course.

Good luck :)another resently.
