making ftp system folders invisible in wu-ftpd

I've just put up an ftp using wu-ftpd and I would like to make the required ftp system files (i.e. /dev /bin /etc ) all invisible, since they are only there to make sure all the ftp commands and such work correctly. I've never really made anything invisible in my filesystem before, and any help would be appreciated.

the path in which all of these files are located is /home/ftp
the directories I would like to hide are: /dev /bin /etc /lib and /pub
