Making Audacity or any other Multi-track recording software work in Fedora Core 1

Alright so here I am running Fedora Core 1 with a Sound Blaster Audigy2 and 2.4 Kernel. Fedora is awesome, I have to say, congrats red hat. Anyway, I am having trouble getting any multitrack recording software to work. I want to use Audigy if I can. I had it working on Red Hat 9 but that was my beginner install and I wanted to straighten out a lot of the configurations I had so I decided to do a Full install of Fedora. I think it's because I need the 2.6.7 kernel, which is what I USED to have. I just don't feel like recompiling a kernel. Is my problem laziness or config? I have the ALSA libraries installed and the sound card works on input, I have been able to test that, and all 7.1 dolby digital surround outputs. The Internal reciever works fine, too. I just want to go away from Windows, is that too much to ask????
