Makefile not found - KDevelop 2

When i run KDevelop 2 iam getting an error that says "makefile not found".
The description is "There is no makefile to build your application. Possibly forgot to create makefile."

What should i do to create a makefile. Why did my KDev didnt create a default makefile? Iam new to linux. Iam using RH7.2

Which is better gcc3 or KDev for compiling C++ progs?
