Hi all this is a long one so sorry ahead of time:
I'm a newbie to this linux seen, and I have a few frustrations. One of them being that I can not install any new software. I am using redhat 9 and I've decided to leave it in the dust because of that very reason. One of the programs I could not install was Xine, because I cant watch movies. So I decided to go for college linux, I have yet to be able to boot the install program on it because I cant install this one piece of software called Smart Boot Manager, but again, I cant do the make install, the error message is as follows:

"I cant install this one piece of software called Smart Boot Manager"
I tried Smart Boot Manager about two months ago. It is very buggy and I could never get it to work. I use lilo for hard disks and isolinux for CD. These two bootloaders, along with grub, are very stable. You would be better off using lilo, grub, or isolinux.
