make install woes

Hi all this is a long one so sorry ahead of time:
I'm a newbie to this linux seen, and I have a few frustrations. One of them being that I can not install any new software. I am using redhat 9 and I've decided to leave it in the dust because of that very reason. One of the programs I could not install was Xine, because I cant watch movies. So I decided to go for college linux, I have yet to be able to boot the install program on it because I cant install this one piece of software called Smart Boot Manager, but again, I cant do the make install, the error message is as follows:

Installing

make[1]: Entering directory `/home/persianp/btmgr-3.7-1/manager'
nasm -DSHOW_DRV_NAME -DSLOW_ATAPI_DEVICE -DCOMPRESS_SBM -DY2K_BUGFIX -DSTRICT_PA
RT_CHECK -fbin -o edd30.bin edd30.asm
edd30.asm:1140: error: symbol `..@205.ifnot3' undefined
edd30.asm:1181: error: symbol `..@266.ifnot2' undefined
edd30.asm:1381: error: symbol `..@439.ifnot2' undefined
edd30.asm:1609: error: symbol `..@679.ifnot2' undefined
edd30.asm:1896: error: phase error detected at end of assembly.
make[1]: *** [edd30.bin] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/persianp/btmgr-3.7-1/manager'
make: *** [install] Error 2

Can anyone help? Again sorry about the length.

"I cant install this one piece of software called Smart Boot Manager"

I tried Smart Boot Manager about two months ago. It is very buggy and I could never get it to work. I use lilo for hard disks and isolinux for CD. These two bootloaders, along with grub, are very stable. You would be better off using lilo, grub, or isolinux.
