Make error while installing fluxbox

Hello,

My system: Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy, 2.6.22.14-generic, running on Intel i686.

I've been using linux for a little while, and finally rid myself of my windows partition to use linux mainstream. I also have a linux server on my network, so I have been using linux for some time - though I'm a complete newbie when it comes to installing from source (I usually use apt-get or adept).

I recently wanted to switch from KDE to fluxbox, however, there is one slight problem.

I installed fluxbox through apt-get about a week ago and nothing would work on fluxbox. I could only right click and edit the task-bar settings.

I decided to run
Quote:
sudo apt-get remove fluxbox
(and all related packages) and to build from source.

I first couldn't get ./configure to work correctly, but then I got build-essential. Afterwards I moved to the correct directory and did ./configure. That worked fine. f

Finally, I tried "make." After I try that, I get this error:
Quote:
make: *** No targets specified and no makefile found. Stop.
Is the make file even there? Here's the contents of the folder:
acinclude.m4 config.h.in COPYING install-sh missing src
aclocal.m4 config.log data ltconfig mkinstalldirs TODO
AUTHORS config.sub depcomp ltmain.sh NEWS util
ChangeLog configure doc Makefile.am nls version.h.in
config.guess configure.in INSTALL Makefile.in README

How should I overcome this error?

Thanks for your help!

No, there is no Makefile in you list. Something went wrong with the configure. There was likely an error that you didn't notice. Clean the source tree or delete it and unpack the Fluxbox tarball again. Reconfigure and look for errors.

you were right, there was no makefile in the list. I re-downloaded the tar and unpacked. After doing ./configure, everything seemed to work all right and I'm now using fluxbox! Thanks!
