Angry Mail Server: Cyrus IMAP/Postfix

OK, im trying to run a mail server for pop/imap/smtp, etc
I've sifted through hundreds of tutorials, etc, with no success.

I have Fedora Core 3 installed, and updated with yum.
I have Postfix installed, with MySQL. TLS and SASL included
I have Cyrus IMAP installed
I have MySQL installed
I have Postfix Admin installed and working

Now, these all seem to be working properly, all running, no errors.
I can connect from a windows box using pop or imap and it will connect, but I can not authenticate - this seems to be my problem. I dont have a great understanding on ciphers in linux -

Heres some lines from my config files:

-- (Postfix Admin) --
$CONF['encrypt'] = 'md5crypt';

-- \etc\imapd.conf --
sasl_pwcheck_method: saslauthd
sasl_mech_list: PLAIN

-- \etc\sysconfig\saslauthd --

-- \etc\sysconfig\saslauthd.postfix --

-- \usr\lib\sasl2\smtpd.conf --
pwcheck_method: auxprop
auxprop_plugin: sql
sql_engine: mysql
mech_list: PLAIN LOGIN
sql_hostnames: localhost
sql_user: postfix
sql_passwd: postfix
sql_database: postfix
sql_select: SELECT password FROM mailbox WHERE username = '%u@%r'

Any help would be much apreciated, if you would like more on my config please ask.

I have been trying to get a mailserver working now for several weeks, as a complete newbie I would follow the instructions then suddenly it would tell me to do something I didn't understand or it didn't work the way it should. Then I was stuffed, now I'm sure most of the instructions worked, but they needed maybe more understanding than I have.

I have just followed for Fedora Core3 & I have to say it does ROCK, the instructions are in plain english, not techno speak. I now have a fully functioning mailserver I would highly reccomend any newbie to go there. Before I get jumped on by the 'experts' I am not saying this is the best setup, but I feel it is the best set of instructions that get the results us newbies need.
