Mail clients and virus scanners as plugins?

I know a lot of good mail clients on Linux.
I know some good command-line virus scanners, too.

But is there a mail client that could use a command line virus scanner as a virus-scanning plugin?

For me this seems logical, as the mail clients "decode" and "disassemble" mails, so they could easily call a virus scanner on the attachments (and also on the body) before showing them.

However, I cannot find a mail client that can accept such a plugin.

Do you know one?
